Commercial Landscapes

By their very nature commercial landscapes require a more robust

construction technique, due in part to the much larger traffic they

can expect over their design life.

The picture above is an award winning pedestrianisation of a

busy London street, completed by us over 20 years ago.

This is often not considered, a simple detail, which although potentially costly if one was to over specify can, non the less save clients lots of money if planned for .

If an office building has a useful life span of 50 years, it would be reasonable to expect the landscape to be sufficiently strong enough to not need major renovations for say 25 years.

This may not be the case with the planting elements growth rates can be both unpredictable and changing.

In respect of major hardworks, such as walls, roads and pavements it is relatively easy to design for a useful 25 year lifespan. - and at an installation cost many times cheaper than repairing later.

Having been initially trained in the joys of Commercial Landscaping this section has features dating back over 35 years on Roof Gardens, Business Parks,Offices,Recreation grounds, Playgrounds,Industrial complexes such as Power Stations, Railways,Airports and Company Campuses.

In the photography sections detailed construction pictures may help you decide what good attention to detail is

- some will have initial installation pictures and then how they look today some 10-20 or even 30 years later.

The old adage "Quality is remembered long after the price has been paid" is truer today than it ever has been.

Enjoy.... oh and as an aside, one of the most interesting aspects is how fashion and design have changed significantly over the years for Clothes ,Cars and Buildings - but has the actual landscape ?

Well in the case of James St, below yes, the litter bins have all gone - a sad reflection on today's turbulent times!
